A collaboration between music and esports? It is becoming increasingly common, as more iconic performers team up with the biggest names in competitive gaming.

The latest example comes from Linkin Park, fresh off their triumphant return to the music scene, who have been chosen to perform the official anthem for the 2024 League of Legends World Championship (Worlds 2024).

Famous for their unique blend of alternative rock and electronic sounds, the 90’s iconic band Linkin Park will deliver the anthem “Heavy Is The Crown,” set to be the defining soundtrack of this year’s tournament.

The announcement has already generated a wave of anticipation, with both Riot Games and the “In The End” artists building momentum ahead of the anthem’s debut. “Heavy Is The Crown” is set to premiere on YouTube and streaming platforms on Sept. 24 in the Philippines, just in time for the start of Worlds 2024.

This new release comes on the heels of Linkin Park’s highly successful single, “The Emptiness Machine,” their first new music in seven years. The track not only topped charts but also garnered over 80 million streams, marking the band’s grand return, accompanied by a six-date arena tour.

After a seven-year hiatus, following the passing of Chester Bennington, Linkin Park has reemerged with a refreshed lineup.

Mike Shinoda, Brad Delson, Phoenix and Joe Hahn have welcomed two new members – vocalist Emily Armstrong and drummer Colin Brittain – who made their debut during the release of “The Emptiness Machine,” signaling the start of an exciting new era for the band.
